What are the rules?
You can travel with cannabis as long as it’s within Canadian borders, but travelling in our out is considered illegal. The rules are as follows:
- Meet the minimum age requirement for weed possession of the province or territory you are in.
- Your cannabis product can be stored within a carry-on or checked baggage.
- Domestic travellers are permitted to bring the maximum legal possession limit of 30 grams of recreational cannabis.
- If you are carrying more than 30 grams, you will need to dispose of the cannabis at the security screening checkpoints, before travelling.
- Cannabis oil is permitted in carry-on luggage as long as it follows general liquid restrictions. This means that you can pack up to 100mL in your carry-on. For greater amounts, you must have a medical marijuana prescription and ensure to bring your documentation.
- Regulations for travelling while intoxicated remain the same. Airline employees have the right to refuse service to a passenger they believe to be intoxicated.
